It sounded like music to the ears. Henceforth, a digital nomad program in Bali. And you wouldn’t even have to pay taxes in Bali. Some research reveals that it’s not that far off at all. What is the situation now!?
For the moment there is NO NEW DIGITAL NOMAD VISA IN INDONESIA ( Bali is part of Indonesia). NO Regulation has been issued for this and will be on hold because the Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Immigration do not agree on what the Ministry of Tourism’s idea is on digital nomad visas for Bali.
And if it comes to that. Would this imply no taxes to be paid in Bali? But if you have this visa, and you only work from Bali and do not earn income from Bali or Indonesia, you should not be subject to income tax. But if you rent a villa in Bali or Indonesia and use the services of a person/company in Indonesia, for example, you will be subject to tax.
Or if you invoice with an Indonesian company… The moment you send your clients an invoice from an Indonesian company, you will, unfortunately, need to pay taxes.
Many ‘digital nomad visas’ as we told you before, sometimes entitle you to stay somewhere temporarily without too much trouble but the tax picture is much vaguer.
